A.R.I.S.E. (Area of Renton Interfaith Shelter Endeavor)
A.R.I.S.E. is an emergency men's shelter designed to help homeless men of South King County move from the streets into permanent housing. It is partnered with local churches and Catholic Community Services which provides screening, case and site management and referral services. The churches provide shelter for homeless, single men over age 18. Clients receive a hot dinner, sack lunches and breakfast. Supervised shelter is provided from 9:00 PM - 7:00 AM each night. Donations might include warm jackets, hats, gloves, fleece and/or sweat shirts, insulated underwear and white cotton socks. The donations are distributed to the men according to need. Goodwill
Seattle Goodwill is a private, non-profit organization that has served the North Puget Sound since 1923. It provides free job training and education programs and services that help low-income individuals obtain the skills they need to secure employment so they may achieve economic self-sufficiency for themselves and their families. Renton Area Youth Services (RAYS)
RAYS is a community mental health/substance abuse treatment center that has served Renton and Tukwila's low-income children and families for more than 30 years. The agency teaches nationally recognized "best practice" violence prevention programs which target first and second graders as well as teens. The agency offers a Latina Life Skills class, taught in Spanish, and parenting classes, taught in English and Spanish. St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Anthony Parish
The St. Vincent de Paul Society is a Catholic lay organization that serves people in need regardless of creed. This past year 99.5 cents of every dollar given was used to provide critical assistance in times of crisis: to prevent eviction, to prevent power shut-off, or to prevent hunger. Food and gift items will be given directly to needy families and individuals in Renton by the volunteers of the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Cash and stock gifts will be used to help people with challenges related to food and power bills, especially those facing power shut-off. The Emergency Feeding Program of Seattle & King County
EFP is a non-profit food distribution program that packs 14 different varieties of nutritionally-balanced, diet-specific emergency food bags and makes them available through a county-wide network of 115 partner social service agencies and faith communities (including nine locations in Renton). EFP is looking for donations of 28-oz cans of iron-enriched, powdered infant formula, jars of pure baby food (first and second foods only; beef and chicken are especially needed), beef stew, granola bars, 2-oz packs of snacking nuts and single-serving applesauce. The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the Universal Christian Church. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God.
